SEC Baseball Preview-Weekend of April 15-17, 2011

We will hit the half-way point in the SEC baseball race this weekend and here is where we stand after four weeks:

vandy  South Carolina Gamecocks logo

SEC East

Vanderbilt           10-2
South Carolina    10-2
Florida                  9-3
Georgia                8-4
Kentucky              2-10
Tennessee           2-10

SEC West

Alabama              7-5
Arkansas              6-6
Auburn                 5-7
Ole Miss               5-7
Miss. St.               5-7

Who could have ever imagined that LSU would be at the bottom of the SEC West at this point?  No doubt the Bengal Tiger fans are restless down on the bayou.

Here’s a big shout out to Vandy catcher Curt Casali.  Curt has played extremely well this year and he was named the Player of the Week by the conference last week.  Well Deserved!

This weekend has some great series to talk about.  I’ll save the best for last.

Here are my predictions:

Kentucky at Ole Miss                     Sweep by the Rebels

Tennessee at Alabama                 Sweep by the Tide

Mississippi State at Arkansas        Hogs win 2 of 3

Auburn at LSU                              Tigers (AU) win 2 of 3

Florida at Georgia                        Gators win 2 of 3

Vandy at South Carolina              Commodores win 2 of 3 (possible sweep)

Many of you will think I have lost my mind, but this year’s Vandy team is rock solid and their pitching depth is hard to fathom.  They might beat themselves, but I sincerely believe that Vandy, Carolina and Florida will all be in Omaha when it matters.

Hope you enjoy the weekend!
