SEC Baseball Update-May 4, 2011

We are heading toward the final weeks of the SEC baseball season and the standings are as follows:

SEC logo

SEC East

Vanderbilt                17-4
South Carolina       17-4
Florida                          17-4
Georgia                         17-4
Tennessee                   5-16
Kentucky                    4-17

SEC West

Alabama                    10-11
Arkansas                   10-11
Auburn                       9-12
Ole Miss                      9-12
Mississippi State   8-13
LSU                                7-14

It is interesting to note that there are No teams in the SEC West with a winning record in conference play.  This is starting to remind me of basketball season.image

Here are the matchups for this weekend with my prediction for the outcome:

South Carolina at Ole Miss                        Rebs win 2 of 3
Miss. St. at Tennessee                                  State wins 2 of 3
Georgia at Auburn                                        Auburn wins 2 of 3
LSU at Alabama                                             LSU wins 2 of 3
Florida at Arkansas                                      Arkansas wins 2 of 3
Vanderbilt at Kentucky                             Vandy wins 2 of 3

Stay tuned as we get ready for the final three weeks of the season.  Next week’s premiere series pits the Florida Gators versus the Vanderbilt Commodores in Nashville at Hawkins Field.  CSS will carry the Friday night game and there will certainly be other games in that series televised.
