5 Things we know about SEC Baseball-Saturday May 28

We are heading into semi-final day at the SEC Tournament in Hoover, AL and the past 3 days have helped clarify many things about SEC baseball and college baseball.  Here are just a few things that I thought were worth sharing.

1.  Auburn shot themselves in the foot with many foolish losses earlier in the season and they will stay at home as a result.  The NCAA rule stating that a team must have a better that .500 record leaves Auburn out and probably puts and possibly Ole Miss in the field of 64

2.  Arkansas is a solid team that had some bumps along the way.  Georgia is much the same and they are both deserving of playing today versus the Commodores and Gators.

3.  South Carolina is a hurting team right now.  Injuries have plagued the Gamecocks all year and the recent events that have taken catcher Brady Thomas out of the lineup only makes matters worse.

4.  Mike Zunino is a star and the Gators are a legitimate title threat when the NCAA tournament starts next week.  The Gators are deep and persistent and they continually find ways to win.

5.  Vandy’s end of season swoon was short lived and they have been very sharp in Hoover.  The loss of TJ Pecararo hurts, but the staff is still deep and the team continues to hit the ball well

Tune in tomorrow and I suspect you will see Vanderbilt and Florida square off one more time.  Hard to pick this one, but I think Vandy will find a way to win another SEC Baseball tournament title this year.
